About Lake Traunsee
Lake Traunsee is the deepest lake of Austria with a max depth of 191 meters and is located in the upper Austrian part of the Salzkammergut region. Lake Traunsee is about 12km long and covers a surface area of 24.4 km2. The lake is a well-known tourist destination most notably summer tourism. Lake Traunsee is an alpine bathing lake that offers a high quality of bathing water. The average water temperature in august is 19 degrees Celsius which makes it colder than most bathing lakes in Austria. many watersports are practiced on the lake such as sailing, surfing, kite surfing, waterskiing and boarding and scuba diving.
Besides watersports you can enjoy hiking and cycling around the lake.
The Feuerkogel cable car brings visitors to the Höllengebirge where you can enjoy a amazing view and go for a nice hike.
