About Lake Leopoldsteinersee

Lake Leopoldsteinersee is located in the state Styria at an altitude of 628 meters above sea level. The lake is about 1400 meters long and 370 meters wide the deepest point of lake leopoldsteinersee is 31 meters. the lake got its name from the nearby Leopoldstein castle.

According to legend, Aquarius has been caught in the lake and as a trade for his release he pointed out the Erzberg where a large iron ore deposit has been found. After the trade he disappeared in the water.
